Behind the Scenes

February 25th, 2008 · 3 Comments

How an event comes together is infinitely fascinating to me—there are so many components. Packing a truck is a mathematical equation (who knew I needed to pay attention to how to calculate cubic square feet in school). Months before we ever step onto the reception site, my Director of Production, Garrett Mastrogiovanni, needs to put together the right team, secure the proper goods, make sure it all gets ordered, shipped (and the tricky part) received on time. Then it gets unpacked, cleaned, stickers removed, repacked, and then off it goes. The handling and shipping of fresh flowers is a whole other ball of wax and the piece that always makes my heart skip a beat! When it all goes live, I love watching the staff operate the genie lifts, move the impossible and balance on the tippy top of very tall ladders.

I have included some ”Behind the Scenes” photos from 2 recent events so you can get a sneak peak about how it all comes together. What an amazing staff and terrific group of vendors we work with to make it all happen. Enjoy!! The Breakers, Palm Beach.

I love how the third picture really puts flower arrangements of that magnitude to scale. May I ask, are components for a wedding of this scale all rented or bought. For instance, were the urns rented, and if they were bought, what does the couple do with the afterwards?
