Brides.com Empire State Building Valentine’s Day Weddings

February 18th, 2009 · 7 Comments

On Valentine’s Day we participated in the Brides.com Valentine’s Day weddings extravaganza on the 61st floor of the Empire State Building. Couples wrote essays about why the Empire State Building had meaning to them and 14 couples were selected to be married at intervals through out the day.

Check out this view!! I have lived in New York City for 20 years and I love when I am granted access to a building or space I have never been in. While I have been to the top of the Empire State, never to this particular floor.

Upon arrival brides passed by the Michelle Rago Bouquet Bar. I worked directly with each bride to adorn and finish their bouquets. There are 2 examples below.

One of the brides chose a classic red bouquet and we hand-wired large pearls, butterflies and ostrich feathers. Fun and flirty.

They had their hair done….

Then make-up….

We created a fun and whimsical setting. The couples were allowed to invite 25 guests and choose their own music as well as write their vows.

We had Flemington Carpets make this delicious runner of hearts!! Levy Lighting perked up the whole space with delicate paisley patterns of light.

Party Rentals donated the chairs and Ruth Fischl the lounge furniture. We added the classic Michelle Rago grosgrain ribbon treatment on the backs of the chairs. Mark had a great idea to customize little boxes of heart candies for each guest as a take away.

We witnessed a bit of New York history when these lovely ladies from San Francisco tied the knot in our fair city. I confess these 2 bouquets were my favorites-Roses, cymbidiums, guinea fowl feathers and gold skeleton leaves. We finished the handle with a wrap of gold and silver wire over ribbon.

Remember-love always finds a way.  Michelle~

I’ve never been to the Empire State Building before but with the pictures you’ve shown, I’m pretty sure it’s really romantic and breathtaking to be on that majestic building when you get married.
