We recently designed a birthday party at The Glass Houses. It was a swanky sit down dinner with a gambling lounge for the after party. The design was set against the stunning backdrop of the New York City skyline.
A hanging sculpture of Phaelonopsis orchids and selenite was a staged at the entry.
Low centerpieces and tons of candlelight created a delightful dinner of speeches and chatter.
Love, love catalaya orchids…they are a sculpture in and of themselves.
One of my big pet peeves at events is to always make sure all of the passing trays coordinate with the overall design.
Same with the serving stations…nothing drives me crazier than seeing a beautifully designed room and food service set up that has nothing to do with the overall point of view.
Everybody loves to gamble…in an effort to always keep things fresh we put a twist on one of the old standards. Guests received gam”BLING” money (with the birthday boy’s picture on it, of course!) to shop for goodies with their winnings. There wasn’t a trinket left in the house.
Each item was priced and displayed just like a shop at a swanky casino.
We created a comfy, chic lounge with DJ David Chang spinning away.
Taller blooms in the “bud vases” were a much more striking alternative to something lower and less noticible.
