In December, we had the great pleasure of designing a wedding in New Delhi, India. It remains not only one of the best destination wedding experiences of my career, but one of the greatest travel experiences of my life. The bride owns Magnolias Linens based out of Manhattan (check out her website-she is crazy talented www.magnoliasgroup.com). This wedding was a unique collaboration because the bride designs textiles and hard goods for events as a career and gave us unlimited access to her factories in India to produce the final outcome. Check out the wedding on our website for more photos.
Destination Fridays is a wonderful topic and one of my personal favorites because as my mother says… I am a wanderlust. The possibilities and scope are endless in terms of subject matter. Last week I focused on the overall design for a wedding in Palm Beach at The Breakers. This week, I am excited to share a single afternoon of shopping for bangle bracelets in the Old Market in New Dehli to be given out to guests at the Mendi. This was the first event in a week long wedding celebration.
We were overwhelmed by this bustling labyrinth of merchants where locals shop for everything imaginable from chickens to perfume. The colors, noise and aromas were overwhelming and exciting and an experience I will always relish. Come with me on a brief journey that was one small piece of an amazing experience!
Walking through the Old Market in search of a bangle shop.
We hit pay dirt! Walls and walls of every type of bangle imaginable.
While negotiating for bangles, we were invited to sit on low benches while shopping.
Mounds of bangles on trays that were passed out to eager guests.
The absolutely beautiful women watching a dance competition between the bride’s and groom’s families.
The beautiful bride (with her bangles) and her husband to be.

Michelle, I’m so excited about your blog. I’m really enjoying the stories and adventures that you’re experiencing. I love how you embrace the behind the scenes. As an event designer and a graphic designer myself.. it’s the rehearsals and research before the grand finale that makes me glow with glee too. Although we’re small compared to you, inspired from your blog - we were thinking of blogging our behind the scenes too. I hope you don’t mind. The creative process is similar but very different. That would be great to compare one day. Maybe in the future we can interview you for our blog too. That would be great!
