A delightful day….
I recently celebrated my 49th birthday-which is an utter shock to the system. It was a perfect New York spring day and I hosted it at my most favorite sneaky spot, The Norwood Club. My patient partners at Norwood, Camille, Allen, Rachelle completely delighted me with their heart and creativity. Thank you Team Norwood-I am devoted to you all.
Miss Brittney was my tireless partner in crime on all birthday details. I am sure I wore her thin…but she didn’t crack. And on party day… she twirled around effortlessly making sure everything ran smoothly. Thank you Brittney. You are a superstar….and that daisy dress…perfection.
Brittney also hand wrote each and every chalk board (I am obsessed with chalkboards). Who even knew she can draw? As we all told her, “you should have never let that cat out of the bag.”
Allan Zepeda of Allan Zepeda Photography shot the images. Well… you can see he knows just what to do with a camera. It is my first time working with him and aside from being uber talented -what a delicious personality. Thank you Allan!
Chef Carlene cooked a perfect Rago meal. I choose my favorite “post-destination” travel meal and… it was spot on. Roast chicken, lavendar french fries, potato hearts, salad greens and flat bread pizzas. We also had yummy Croque Monsieur and miniature pancakes.
Of course the staff at Norwood always delivers with style!
Jen Stone & Marco Olmi of Stone Kelly arranged these gorgeous flowers and they were as yummy as the food. I adore their work but truthfully getting to know them is the real gift.
So it became pretty clear to all- I love pink.
A world without cheese is a desperate place. Norwood suggested I use Murray’s Cheese and a cheesemonger. Um… can I ever entertain without a cheesemonger…unknown?
Although Frank sadly couldn’t make it, Michele and their son Ellis of Films by Francesco hung out while one of their team shot video footage. I am so in love with their work. We have traveled the world together which has been a blast. But having them as guests in my own backyard was the bomb.
Love this boy. He has become our industry party mascot. Thank goodness he personally took on the responsibility of making sure all of the people in Hoboken had poodle balloon sticks. Thank you Ellis!
Here are some of the cutie cute (oh so pink) details.
I think pink champagne towers are a must at every Rago party.
Elan Artists provided the band, Carte Blanche. I can’t imagine a better way to spend an afternoon than listening to French music in a garden. Thank you Josh! I just adore their vibe- and you.
My dear friends Robert & Nicolas brought me a cake from the Sugar Flower Shop with a fab flaming candle! I have been friends with them since my very first job as a coffee service manager at a hotel in Midtown in my early 20′s… we are officially as old as dirt!
When it comes to dessert I like super simple. Ice Cream sandwiches, madeleines and cake! Do you really need anything else?
But….no party has heart without the people who take the time to come and celebrate with you…I am so lucky to have so many wonderful people in my life!
By the time you turn 49 there are many experiences that comprise your history. Some amazing experiences you can’t put out of your mind and some you would do anything to forget. But what time teaches you is that the love , support and faith from your friends and family are what make the journey … perfect.
